Optical Illusion: How many faces do you see in this drawing?

Imagine yourself standing in front of a carefully drawn tree, its branches spreading out in all directions. At first glance, everything seems normal… until you notice two faces clearly outlined at the base of the tree, like silhouettes in profile. Intrigued, you move closer to get a better look, and suddenly, more faces seem to appear among the branches. But how many are there really? Some count nine, others ten. Who’s right?

An illusion that deceives the eye

The tree’s design is a true optical illusion.  It plays with our perception, forcing us to look for details that escape the first glance . At the foot of the tree,  two faces clearly appear , but this is only the beginning. On closer inspection,  you will discover that the tree itself is literally shaped by faces intertwined in its branches and foliage .

Optical illusions like this exploit  our tendency to recognize human forms even where none exist . This phenomenon, known as  pareidolia , is what makes us see faces in clouds or  human forms on tree trunks .
