At just 13 years old, Jesse was a young, energetic Australian. Living with his family in Hastings, Victoria, this boy, affectionately known as “Peanut” by his friends, loved cooking, caring for animals, and playing video games. Despite his medically monitored asthma, nothing foreshadowed the terrible tragedy of March 3.

After a normal day at school, Jesse was playing football in the family garden when suddenly he rushed home, pale and panting: “Mom, I can’t breathe,” he whispered, before his condition deteriorated within minutes.

Despite his mother’s desperate attempts to resuscitate him and the intervention of emergency services, doctors determined that the young boy had been without cerebral oxygen for 23 minutes. The diagnosis was clear: cardiac arrest following a sudden asthma attack.
