step 1 Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
step 2 In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
step 3 Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
step 4 Stir in flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
step 5 Press half of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
step 6 Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly set.
step 7 In a saucepan or microwave, melt caramel candies with heavy cream until smooth.
step 8 Pour the caramel evenly over the baked base.
step 9 Crumble remaining dough over the caramel layer.
step 10 Return to oven and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
step 11 Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week. These bars can be enjoyed at room temperature or slightly warmed for a gooey texture.
