Instructions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 2: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook the ground beef or sausage until browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella.
Step 4: Pour the pasta mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Step 5: Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Storage Information
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through or in the microwave in portions. This dish can also be frozen for up to 2 months; thaw overnight before reheating.
