Cheesy Lasagna: A Classic Comfort Food Masterpiece

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook ground beef, Italian sausage (if using), onion, and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat, stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 3: In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with the egg and half of the Parmesan cheese.

Step 4: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer 4 noodles over it, followed by one-third of the ricotta mixture, one-third of the meat sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella. Repeat twice, finishing with sauce and mozzarella on top.

Step 5: Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan over the final layer.

Step 6: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.

Step 7: Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
