Instructions
Step 1 Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 2 In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3 In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk, oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Step 4 Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Step 5 Lightly grease the waffle iron and pour in the batter, spreading evenly.
Step 6 Cook according to waffle iron instructions until the waffles are crisp on the outside and cooked through.
Step 7 Carefully remove waffles and repeat with remaining batter.
Step 8 Serve warm topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle generously with chocolate sauce.
Step 9 Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve immediately.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store leftover waffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a toaster or oven to restore crispiness. Waffles can also be frozen for up to 2 months; reheat directly from frozen in a toaster or oven.
