Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Step 2: Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally if thick, then pound them lightly to an even thickness.
Step 3: Season the chicken with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
Step 4: Place the flour in one shallow bowl.
Step 5: In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
Step 6: In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
Step 7: Dredge each chicken piece in the flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat in the breadcrumb mixture.
Step 8: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 9: Fry the breaded chicken for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Step 10: Transfer the chicken to a baking dish.
Step 11: Spoon marinara sauce over each piece of chicken.
Step 12: Top generously with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Step 13: Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 14: Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves and extra Parmesan cheese.
Step 15: Serve warm with pasta, salad, or garlic bread.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store leftover Chicken Parmesan in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F until warmed through to help maintain the crispy coating. Avoid microwaving for too long, as the breading may become soft. Chicken Parmesan can also be frozen for up to 2 months and reheated after thawing.
