Classic Gingerbread Cookies

Warmly spiced and perfectly sweet, these classic gingerbread cookies are a holiday favorite. Decorated with icing, they’re as fun to make as they are to eat.

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup molasses
1 large egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
2–3 tablespoons milk (for icing)
