Classic Spaghetti Bolognese

Instructions

Step 1: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Heat olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.

Step 3: Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.

Step 4: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 5: Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring until combined.

Step 6: Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, oregano, red pepper flakes if using, and sugar.

Step 7: Reduce the heat and simmer the sauce for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened and flavorful.

Step 8: Toss the cooked spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce until evenly coated.

Step 9: Serve warm topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley or basil.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Store leftover Classic Spaghetti Bolognese in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave with a splash of water if needed. The sauce can also be frozen separately for up to 3 months.
