Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.

Step 4: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Step 5: Gradually beat in the flour mixture until fully incorporated.

Step 6: Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).

Step 7: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8: Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Storage Information

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. To keep them soft, place a slice of bread in the container. Baked cookies can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Freeze cookie dough balls for easy baking anytime.
