Instructions
Step 1: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Step 2: In another shallow bowl, place the beaten eggs and set nearby.
Step 3: In a third shallow bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs and shredded cheddar cheese until evenly mixed.
Step 4: Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels, then dredge each one in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
Step 5: Dip each floured drumstick into the beaten eggs, then immediately roll it in the cheesy panko coating, pressing gently so it adheres well.
Step 6: Heat oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 7: Carefully place the coated drumsticks into the hot oil and fry for 12 to 15 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Step 8: Remove drumsticks with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Step 9: Serve hot and enjoy the crispy, cheesy goodness.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store leftover drumsticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They taste best consumed within the first 24 hours while the coating remains at its crispiest.
To reheat, place drumsticks on a baking sheet and warm in a 375°F (190°C) oven for about 10 minutes until heated through. This method helps restore some of the original crunch better than microwaving.
You can also freeze cooked drumsticks for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating using the same oven method.
