Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for maximum tenderness.
Step 2: In a shallow bowl, combine flour, seasoned breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Step 3: Remove chicken from buttermilk and coat thoroughly in the flour mixture, pressing gently to ensure the coating adheres.
Step 4: Heat oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F. Carefully place coated chicken in the hot oil and fry for 6-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
Step 5: Transfer fried chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Let rest for 3-5 minutes, then slice into strips.
Step 6: Cook fries according to package directions until crispy and golden. Season with salt immediately after frying.
Step 7: Arrange romaine lettuce as the base in a large serving bowl or platter.
Step 8: Top with cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, red onion, and hard-boiled eggs around the lettuce base.
Step 9: Add the crispy fries in a mound in the center, then arrange the sliced crispy chicken on top.
Step 10: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over everything and drizzle with ranch dressing just before serving.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store components separately in airtight containers for up to 3 days. Keep the salad greens in one container, the fried chicken in another, and fries in a third to maintain crispiness.
Reheat fried chicken in a 350°F oven for 8-10 minutes until warmed through and crispy. Reheat fries in the oven or air fryer for 5 minutes. Assemble everything fresh just before eating for the best texture.
Avoid storing the dressed salad, as greens will wilt. Apply dressing right before serving for maximum freshness and crunch.
