The justice of fate
Maybe I would have given in if our story had been different. If she had shown me even a little affection.
But at that precise moment, I understood that I no longer owed him anything.
“I could have helped you, Charlotte,” I replied. “If only you had been a real sister.”
Then I hung up.
The beginning of a new chapter
With the help of Mr. Mathieu, I found a charming studio apartment in the city center. An ideal haven of peace before entering university.
As I was driving past our old house a few weeks later, I noticed a clearly visible “SOLD” sign.
Charlotte had lost everything.
Oddly enough, I felt no guilt. The house without Dad was nothing more than an empty shell.
I knew he was still watching over me, one way or another.
What this story teaches us
- Selfishness always ends up turning against the one who practices it.
- True wealth is not measured in euros, but in love and fidelity.
- Evil people often dig their own graves.
And above all… never judge a book by its cover. The most discreet people are sometimes the most formidable.
And you, how would you have reacted in this situation? Should you have helped Charlotte despite everything? Tell me what you think in the comments!
