Instructions:
step 1 In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil or butter.
step 2 Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 5-6 minutes. Remove and set aside.
step 3 In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
step 4 Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and stir well. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
step 5 Season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
step 6 Return the browned sausage to the skillet and stir everything together. Add a splash of chicken broth or water if the pan seems dry.
step 7 Cover and cook for another 5-10 minutes, until cabbage is tender and flavors are well combined.
Storage and Reheating Tips:
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat until warmed through, adding a splash of broth or water if needed to keep it moist. Can also be reheated in the microwave.
