Instructions
Step 1 Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking trays with parchment paper.
Step 2 In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Step 3 In another bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4 Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
Step 5 Gradually add dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Step 6 Divide dough into portions and mix in variations such as cocoa powder or food coloring if desired.
Step 7 Prepare filling by mixing cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
Step 8 Scoop dough, flatten slightly, add filling or toppings inside, then seal and shape into thick cookies.
Step 9 Place cookies on baking trays with space between them.
Step 10 Bake for 12–15 minutes until edges are set and centers remain soft.
Step 11 Remove from oven and immediately decorate with additional toppings like Oreos, chocolate, or icing.
Step 12 Allow cookies to cool slightly before serving.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave for 10–15 seconds for a gooey center. Cookies can also be frozen for up to 2 months and thawed before serving.
