How to make Ham and Cheese Sticks
Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles.
Step 3: Place one slice of ham and one cheese stick on the wide end of each triangle.
Step 4: Roll the dough around the ham and cheese, starting at the wide end and rolling toward the point.
Step 5: Place each rolled stick seam-side down on the baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or seasoning if using.
Step 6: Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Serve warm.
Recipe Variations and Possible Substitutions
- Swap ham for turkey, roast beef, or even pepperoni.
- Use string cheese or your favorite melting cheese cut into sticks.
- Add a smear of honey mustard or garlic butter inside the dough before rolling for extra flavor.
- Crescent roll dough can be replaced with puff pastry or biscuit dough for a twist.
Storage and Reheating Tips
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, place in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–7 minutes or until warmed through. Avoid microwaving as it may make the dough soggy.
- Freeze before baking for a quick make-ahead snack. Just thaw slightly and bake as directed.
