Homemade Biscuits

Instructions

step 1 Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper./n
step 2 In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined./n
step 3 Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and cut it in using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized pieces of butter./n
step 4 Pour in the cold milk and gently stir just until the dough comes together. Do not overmix./n
step 5 Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Fold the dough over onto itself 3–4 times to create layers, then pat it down again to 1-inch thickness./n
step 6 Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart./n
step 7 Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown./n
step 8 Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter. Serve warm.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze biscuits in a sealed freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–10 minutes or until warmed through. If frozen, thaw at room temperature before reheating for best results.
