A musical treasure discovered late by France
In France, his voice reached the airwaves long after his death. Iz originally debuted with the band The Makaha Sons of Niʻihau in 1976. Together, they released eleven albums steeped in Hawaiian culture. But in 1993, he decided to branch out on his own and recorded what would become his timeless masterpiece.
It wasn’t until 2010 that his talent really became known in France . The record company Universal Music then decided to release his tracks, propelling his name to the top of the French charts . A posthumous success, but well-deserved. As they often say: better late than never .

Even today, the crystal-clear notes of his ukulele resonate in weddings, commercials, movies, and in people’s hearts . Israel Kamakawiwo’ole wasn’t just a singer. He was a link between the Hawaiian Islands and the rest of the world , a generous soul who sang for peace, love, and nature.
