Israel Kamakawiwo’ole: This singer who is reborn on Google, 23 years after his death

A musical treasure discovered late by France

In France, his voice reached the airwaves long after his death. Iz originally debuted with the band  The Makaha Sons of Niʻihau  in 1976. Together, they released eleven albums steeped in Hawaiian culture. But in 1993, he decided to branch out on his own and recorded what would become his timeless masterpiece.

It wasn’t until 2010 that his talent  really became known in France . The record company  Universal Music  then decided to release his tracks, propelling his name to the top of the  French charts . A posthumous success, but well-deserved. As they often say:  better late than never .

A legend that continues to inspire

Even today, the crystal-clear notes of his  ukulele  resonate in  weddings, commercials, movies, and in people’s hearts .  Israel Kamakawiwo’ole  wasn’t just a singer. He was  a link between the Hawaiian Islands and the rest of the world , a generous soul who sang for peace, love, and nature.

His music, much more than just a hit, is a refuge . It soothes, consoles, and inspires. And if you listen closely, you might hear the whisper of the wind on the white sand beaches of his native island.
