An accomplished athlete, struck without warning

A medical sales representative, running enthusiast, and father of two, Lee Rawlinson led a full life. His healthy lifestyle, physical fitness, and consistent exercise seemed to protect him. But this apparent robustness eventually masked a warning sign.
It all started with a dull ache in his lower abdomen , which he attributed to fatigue, stress, or muscle tension. He consulted and had tests done: no abnormalities were detected. Reassured, he resumed his routine without giving it any further thought.
A discreet symptom… which hid much more

This persistent pain became part of his daily life, bearable but unusual. Until the day it intensified: it radiated down his back, like “an invisible blade ,” he would later say. He then went to the emergency room.
