Instructions:
Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, egg, mustard, ketchup, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
Step 2: Form the mixture into four thin, rectangular patties to match the shape of the bread.
Step 3: Cook the patties in a skillet over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side, until fully cooked and browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 4: Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side, layer a slice of cheese, a meatloaf patty, and another slice of cheese. Top with a second slice of bread, buttered side out.
Step 5: Grill each sandwich in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Step 6: Slice and serve hot with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
Storage Information:
Store leftover patties in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat patties in a skillet or microwave and assemble fresh sandwiches when ready to enjoy. Avoid storing pre-made sandwiches to keep bread from becoming soggy.
