A link with Pope Francis?

Some religious mysticism enthusiasts go further. Pope Francis chose his name in reference to Saint Francis of Assisi , whose father’s name was… Pietro . Should this be seen as a prophetic nod? For the most fervent believers, it is an additional clue linking the late pope to the final figure evoked by Malachi.
The end of the world in 2027?
Another disturbing element: the date 2027 often comes up in modern interpretations of this prophecy. Some see it as the possible year of the Apocalypse, in a world already shaken by geopolitical tensions, climate change, and social instability .
But these readings remain very controversial , and many specialists call for putting them into perspective.
What do the experts say?
Already in 2013, Josh Canning , religious leader at the Newman Centre in Toronto, declared:
“I don’t see a clear link between Peter the Roman and Pope Francis.”
According to him, this text would be more of a medieval literary tradition than an inspired message. Indeed, the prophecy would not have been published until the 16th century , more than 400 years after the death of Saint Malachy , which casts serious doubt on its authenticity.
Between fascination and skepticism
As is often the case with ancient prophecies, interpretation makes all the difference . For some, it is simply a symbolic account. For others, it is a true spiritual warning.
One thing is certain: this text, although shrouded in mystery, continues to fuel the collective imagination, especially in an uncertain global climate.
And now ?
As the conclave prepares to appoint the new pontiff, the question remains:
what if it were true?
What if this future pope, the final figure on Malachy’s list, were to witness a period of spiritual or civilizational upheaval?
