A decisive intervention

On April 18 , police intervened at Bondrescu’s home. The man denied any involvement, but the officers, armed with a warrant, thoroughly searched the house.
It was there, hidden behind a cluttered closet door, that they found the teenager, terrified but safe and sound.
A carefully concealed captivity

According to the girl’s testimony, it all began with a conversation on an online messaging app. Bondrescu gradually gained her trust before planning her kidnapping.
After spending an entire night avoiding patrolled roads, he drove her home. To prevent her from fleeing, he confiscated her identity papers and destroyed her phone.
She was forced to live as a recluse, allowed out only very rarely, concealed under baggy clothes and a hat to avoid being recognized. She was even forced to work for Bondrescu’s snow removal company, under strict surveillance.
