Instructions
Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Step 2: Add the remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
Step 3: Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Step 4: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
Step 5: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into circles using a biscuit cutter or glass.
Step 6: Place a small spoonful of Nutella in the center of half the dough circles. Top with another dough circle and pinch the edges tightly to seal.
Step 7: Cover the filled donuts and let them rest for 20–30 minutes until slightly puffed.
Step 8: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
Step 9: Remove the donuts and drain on paper towels. While still warm, coat them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Step 10: Serve warm for the best gooey Nutella center.
