Paint Palette Cookies

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Step 4: Add the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and milk. Mix until combined.

Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

Step 6: Roll the dough into balls and slightly flatten them onto the prepared baking sheets.

Step 7: Use your thumb or a small round cutter to create a small hole near the edge of each cookie to resemble a paint palette.

Step 8: Press colorful candy-coated chocolates onto the cookies to look like paint spots.

Step 9: Bake the cookies for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

Step 10: Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.

Step 11: Dip one end of each pretzel stick into melted white chocolate and attach it diagonally across the cookies to resemble a paintbrush.

Step 12: Let the chocolate set before serving.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

For longer storage, freeze the cookies in a sealed container for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.

Avoid reheating the cookies in the microwave, as the candy decorations may melt.
