Paint Palette Sugar Cookies

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3: In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Step 4: Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until combined.

Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

Step 6: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.

Step 7: Cut the dough into palette shapes using a knife or cookie cutter, then cut out a small thumb hole from each cookie.

Step 8: Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and decorate with mini chocolate candies.

Step 9: Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.

Step 10: Allow the cookies to cool completely before decorating further.

Step 11: Attach a mini marshmallow to the end of each pretzel stick using melted white chocolate to create paintbrushes.

Step 12: Place the pretzel paintbrushes onto the cookies before serving.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

Separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Avoid refrigerating the cookies, as this may change their soft texture.

The pretzel paintbrush decorations can be added fresh before serving for the best presentation.
