Instructions:
Step 1: In a bowl, mix ground beef with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.
Step 2: Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
Step 3: In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with mozzarella cheese and cover to melt.
Step 4: In a small pan, lightly crisp the pepperoni slices.
Step 5: Toast burger buns in butter until golden.
Step 6: Assemble the burgers: bottom bun, a spoonful of marinara sauce, the cheesy patty, a few pepperoni slices, more marinara if desired, and top bun.
Step 7: Sprinkle with optional Parmesan or red pepper flakes and serve hot.
