Instructions
Step 1: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 2: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides.
Step 3: Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet and sauté for 5 to 6 minutes until softened.
Step 4: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Step 5: Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
Step 6: Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
Step 7: Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet and toss until evenly coated with the sauce.
Step 8: Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil before serving.
Storage and Reheating Tips

To reheat, warm the pasta in a skillet over medium heat with a splash of water or tomato sauce to keep it from drying out. You can also microwave individual portions in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until fully heated.
