Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt.

Step 3: In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.

Step 4: Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.

Step 5: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.

Step 6: Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped dark chocolate evenly throughout the dough.

Step 7: Scoop large portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart.

Step 8: Bake for 10 to 13 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.

Step 9: Immediately sprinkle flaky sea salt over the warm cookies.

Step 10: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

To keep them extra soft, place a slice of bread in the container with the cookies.

Reheat cookies in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds for a warm, gooey texture.

Cookie dough can also be frozen for up to 3 months and baked directly from frozen with an extra 1 to 2 minutes of baking time.
