Smashing Patty Melts with Signature Sauce

Instructions:
Step 1: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until deeply caramelized—about 20–25 minutes. Set aside.

Step 2: While onions cook, mix ground beef with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 thin patties.

Step 3: In the same skillet, cook patties over medium-high heat for 3–4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Set aside.

Step 4: Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl until well combined. Set aside.

Step 5: To assemble, spread sauce on one side of each bread slice. Layer with a slice of cheese, a patty, caramelized onions, and another slice of cheese. Top with another slice of bread, sauce side in.

Step 6: Melt remaining butter in the skillet over medium heat. Grill each sandwich for 2–3 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.

Step 7: Slice and serve hot with extra sauce or your favorite dipping side.

Storage Information:
Wrap leftover patty melts tightly in foil and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or air fryer for best texture. Avoid microwaving, as it may make the bread soggy.
