Instructions

step 1 Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat.
step 2 Season beef with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
step 3 Add beef to the pan and sear until browned on all sides.
step 4 Remove beef and set aside.
step 5 In the same pan, melt butter and sauté onion until softened.
step 6 Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
step 7 Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir to form a roux.
step 8 Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
step 9 Return beef to the pan and bring to a simmer.
step 10 Cover and cook on low heat for 30–40 minutes until beef is tender and gravy thickens.
step 11 Adjust seasoning if needed.
step 12 Serve the smothered beef over cooked rice.
step 13 Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat on the stovetop or microwave until warmed through, adding a splash of broth if needed to loosen the gravy. This dish can also be frozen for up to 2 months.
