Purchases experienced as an injustice

A new car, a remodeled kitchen, a Mediterranean cruise… for Tom, every pleasure his parents give becomes a source of irritation. He sometimes accuses them of selfishness or carelessness. Yet, they are only legitimately enjoying the fruits of their labor.
The paradox? Tom is aware of it. He knows his reaction is disproportionate. But his own economic difficulties fuel a form of bitterness that is difficult to contain.
A distance that sets in

Through constant criticism, the relationship with his parents deteriorated. Tired of the tensions, they took a step back. They remain there when needed, but they don’t give up on their plans. They reminded him, without aggression but firmly , that their money was not an obligation, but a freedom they granted themselves.
