Bacterial vaginosis is the main cause. This common and not serious condition occurs when protective lactobacilli are reduced in favor of bacteria that generate this particular odor. Grayish discharge may accompany this phenomenon, usually without irritation.
- Genital infections
Some STDs, such as trichomoniasis, also cause changes in smell. In these cases, other symptoms often appear: significant discharge, burning sensations, irritations, etc. A consultation then becomes essential .
- Improper cleaning routines
Vaginal balance is sensitive to both excess and neglect. Overly detergent products, internal washes, or perfumed cosmetics can disrupt the vaginal flora. Conversely, insufficient cleansing allows residue to build up.
