A chiropractor shows 3 simple exercises that will help eliminate the ‘humpback’ and correct posture

Exercises that relieve and straighten the neck

Exercise 1: Reposition the head to free the neck

Objective  : to realign the head with the spine.

  • Stand up straight against a wall or standing with your feet hip-width apart.
  • Using your index and middle fingers, gently grasp your chin.
  • Push your head back  without lifting your chin . Imagine you are creating a double chin.
  • Hold this position for 10 seconds, then release. Do 5 repetitions.

Tip  : Do the exercise while looking straight ahead in a mirror to properly self-correct.

Exercise 2: Strengthen the middle back with arms in a W shape

Goal  : Open the rib cage and activate the upper back muscles.

  • Stand with your arms raised and your elbows bent at 90°, forming a “W”.
  • Pull your elbows back and down.
  • Be careful  not to tense your shoulders  !
  • Keep your head slightly back, as in the previous exercise.
  • Hold for 5 seconds, release. Repeat 5 times.
