A dog goes every day in front of a closed shop and then leaves, one evening a poor boy notices him and follows him

Adam was 18 years old, a gentle soul with eyes always alert to the details of everyday life. Working at a local grocery store, he spent his days observing the comings and goings of people… but especially that of a dog. Rufus, a small terrier with shaggy fur, appeared every day at the same time, stopping with disturbing regularity in front of a long-closed bicycle shop.

This was no mere stray. Rufus was clean, well-behaved, and displayed an unsettling attitude of expectation. As if he were hoping for someone to return.

A strange routine and an unexpected gesture

One lunchtime, Adam saw him grab a leftover sandwich that had fallen next to a stall. But instead of devouring it like any hungry dog would, Rufus gently grabbed it and sped off, looking eager. Intrigued, Adam decided one evening to discreetly follow him.

The dog crossed several alleys, took a path at the edge of town, and slipped under  a rusty fence behind a vacant lot . There, in  a half-collapsed abandoned house , another, larger dog was barking faintly. It was a German shepherd,  thin but still alive . Rufus brought it enough to survive every day.

A hard truth to believe

Adam immediately alerted  the city police . The officers discovered not only Max, the German Shepherd, locked inside the house, but also something even more tragic:  the lifeless body of the former owner of the bike shop . He had died suddenly, leaving behind his two dogs, unbeknownst to anyone.

Since that fateful day, Rufus survived alone, feeding Max day after day, perhaps hoping that their master would return. A heartbreaking loyalty, worthy  of the greatest cinematic stories .
