step 1 Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a small square baking dish with parchment paper.
step 2 Melt the butter and chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave. Stir until smooth.
step 3 In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
step 4 Fold in the melted chocolate mixture.
step 5 Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold to combine.
step 6 Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 20–25 minutes or until the center is just set.
step 7 Allow the brownies to cool slightly, then cut into squares.
step 8 Warm the custard and spoon it onto serving plates. Place brownie pieces on top.
step 9 Add scoops of vanilla ice cream over the brownies and drizzle with caramel sauce.
step 10 Garnish with crushed candy or chocolate and a slice of strawberry if desired. Serve immediately.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. To reheat, microwave briefly until warm. Ice cream and custard should be stored in the fridge or freezer as appropriate. Assemble just before serving for best texture and presentation.
