Classic Homemade Meatloaf

Instructions

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet or loaf pan with parchment paper.

Step 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and parsley.

Step 3. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet or in the loaf pan.

Step 5. In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard to make the glaze.

Step 6. Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 7. Bake for 40 minutes.

Step 8. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining glaze over the top.

Step 9. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20–25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 10. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 11. Slice and serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or your favorite side dishes.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Store leftover meatloaf in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

To reheat, place slices in a baking dish, cover with foil, and warm in a 325°F (165°C) oven for 10–15 minutes.

Individual slices can also be microwaved in 30-second intervals until heated through.

Meatloaf freezes well for up to 3 months. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil before freezing. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
