Step 1 Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
Step 2 Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
Step 3 Add the tomato sauce and let it simmer for 3–4 minutes.
Step 4 Stir in the heavy cream and mix until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
Step 5 Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
Step 6 Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until evenly coated.
Step 7 Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
Step 8 Cook for another 1–2 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
Step 9 Serve hot with extra Parmesan sprinkled on top.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store leftover pasta in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of milk or cream to loosen the sauce.
This dish is best enjoyed fresh but can be frozen for up to 1 month if needed.
