Instructions
Step 1: Pat your chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels to ensure maximum crispiness.
Step 2: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to create your wet coating mixture.
Step 3: In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
Step 4: In a third bowl, mix the crushed cornflakes with the shredded cheddar cheese for that signature crispy, cheesy crust.
Step 5: Dip each drumstick into the flour mixture, coating all sides evenly.
Step 6: Next, dip the floured drumstick into the egg and milk mixture.
Step 7: Finally, roll the drumstick in the cornflake and cheese mixture, pressing gently so the coating adheres.
Step 8: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F.
Step 9: Carefully place the coated drumsticks into the hot oil and fry for 12 to 15 minutes, turning halfway through, until the coating is golden brown and crispy.
Step 10: Remove the drumsticks with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels before serving.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store leftover drumsticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They’re perfect for cold snacks straight from the fridge or easily reheated.
To reheat and maintain crispiness, place them on a baking sheet in a 375°F oven for about 10 minutes. This method keeps the outside crunchy while warming the inside through.
You can also reheat in an air fryer at 375°F for just 5 to 7 minutes for that freshly-fried texture.
These drumsticks also freeze beautifully for up to 2 months when stored in a freezer-safe container. Just add a few extra minutes to your reheating time if cooking from frozen.
