Hot Cross Buns

Hot Cross Buns are soft, lightly spiced sweet buns traditionally enjoyed during Easter season. Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup raisins or currants
1 tablespoon orange zest

For the Cross

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
5–6 tablespoons water

For the Glaze

2 tablespoons apricot jam
1 tablespoon warm water
