Step 6: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
Step 7: Fry each dough round until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
Step 8: Transfer the bunuelos to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Step 9: In a shallow bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
Step 10: Sprinkle or coat the warm bunuelos with cinnamon sugar.
Step 11: Dust lightly with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
Step 12: Serve warm and enjoy.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Store bunuelos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
To maintain crispiness, reheat in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes.
Avoid microwaving, as it may soften the texture.
Freeze plain unfrosted bunuelos for up to 1 month and reheat in the oven before serving.
