Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter together in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and glossy.
Step 4: Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until fully combined.
Step 5: Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
Step 6: Fold in the additional chocolate chips.
Step 7: Scoop portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart to allow spreading.
Step 8: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies develop crackly tops while remaining soft in the center.
Step 9: Allow the cookies to cool for several minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
Step 10: Decorate each cookie with chocolate sandwich cookies or wafers to create spider bodies.
Step 11: Attach candy eyes using a small amount of icing.
Step 12: Pipe spider legs with black decorating icing and finish with colorful Halloween sprinkles.
