Student has fatal reaction to brownie she received from friend

A lightning reaction

Hannah knew immediately that something was wrong. From the second bite, her body began to react: vomiting, hives… Despite a quick dose of antihistamine , her symptoms worsened. She tried to rest, thinking it would calm the attack.

But this respite was brief. Moments later, a violent anaphylactic reaction caused his right lung to collapse. Within seconds, he could no longer breathe.

Emergency actions… too late

Alerted, her parents rushed from their home  about three-quarters of an hour  away. Her father found Hannah unconscious at the foot of her bed. The  adrenaline pen  was used, but too late. Emergency personnel tried to revive her. Her heart had stopped for four minutes. The lack of oxygen had caused irreversible brain damage.

She was rushed to the hospital and placed on a ventilator. But tests confirmed the worst: her brain was severely damaged. There was no hope of recovery.

A final gesture of life

On November 10, 2024, his loved ones said their goodbyes during a  walk of honor , a moving tribute to organ donors. Nearly 300 people lined the hospital corridors to pay their respects.

Thanks to his donation, four lives were saved.  A little light in this tragedy.
