Instructions

Step 1: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Step 3: Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, and mix until fully combined.

Step 4: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

Step 5: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Step 11: Spread or pipe the yellow icing onto the cookies and allow it to set slightly.

Step 12: Use black decorating gel to create the eyes and smile, and add pink accents for rosy cheeks.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Store Sunshine Sugar Cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

For longer storage, freeze the undecorated cookies for up to 2 months. Thaw completely before decorating and serving.
