An ancient practice… and a military one?

One of the earliest historical hypotheses comes from the military world. According to some accounts, soldiers, at the end of their training or upon demobilization, would have adopted the custom of throwing their boots onto power lines to symbolize a turning point in their lives. Like a rite of passage, a way of saying goodbye to a  difficult chapter  in their existence. This tradition would later have been adopted and adapted, transforming into a more playful or symbolic gesture.
